If there is one thing most of you have probably learned about me via Café Fashionista over the years (aside from the fact that I am a shoe addict), is that I am a complete bookworm. Reviewing, recommending, reading…all can be found on my list of hobbies. In fact, my handbag, in my estimation, is barren if there is not a book taking up residence within its folds. And I think, based upon much of the feedback I have received from all of you when I mention books, that many share my adoration of the written word; therefore, I thought that it was high time to add a new feature to Café Fashionista…a monthly Book Club!

That’s right; today I am introducing you to the Café Fashionista Book Club! Each month, I will announce a new book that I would love to read with all of you, and you can either choose to read it along with me, or not (like I said, the choice is yours).

Throughout the month, you can come back to this original posting, and Discuss the current book club selection in the Comments section, sharing your thoughts on a character you love (or love to hate), memorable quotes or scenes in the book, and the like. Everything is very informal; but I think that it will be a blast, and I hope that you will all join in!

Now for the fun part. The very first Café Fashionista Book Club selection is…The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith!

Haute Hair at Home: HANAair Professional Hair Dryer Review

My experience with hair dryers has never been anything to write home about. Past experiences have left me with numb arms (due to heavyweight tools), and sheer frustration over lengthy wait times for said hair dryers to make good on their promise…dry my hair. Thus, unless someone else is working their magic on my follicles, I consider myself to be an air-dry type of girl. Meaning? I let my wet hair dry naturally – super fabulous in the way of saving time, but definitely not recommended if you want a chic et sleek coiffure. So when Misikko – known for their CHI Hair Products, Professional Hair Straighter selection, and the Best Hair Dryers – gave me the opportunity to review the HANAair Professional Hair Dryer – dubbed “The Premiere Hair Dryer” – I saw it as an offer I couldn’t refuse.

Aesthetically, the HANAair Professional Hair Dryer is stunning to look at. It is compact, sophisticated, and sleek, with a rich, black finish, and nondescript gray labeling that is subtle – yet still gets the job done of informing the user precisely what tool is in their possession. Best of all, of course, is the fact that it is lightweight. Featuring Wattage of 2300, 2 fan speeds, 3 heat settings, and a cold shot, I immediately knew that this particular hair dryer was far more powerful than previous ones that I have used; which actually scared me a little, as I was worried that it would cause frizz and/or heat damage – it didn’t.

The ION Technology found in the HANAair Professional Hair Dryer actually conditions hair and reduces static electricity which, in my opinion, made my hair (which has a slight wave / frizz to it when not treated with a hair dryer) feel incredibly healthy, in that once completed the look was super shiny and smooth – no flyaway or frizz at all. This particular hair dryer does retail for $334.99; however, it is $194.99 via Misikko. Normally, I would not be willing to spend so much on a hair care tool (as most of you well know, the majority of my money goes to shoes); however, time is money, and it took me less than ten minutes to completely blow dry my hair using the HANAair Professional Hair Dryer (a task which, with other hair dryers, has taken upwards of 45-minutes) – thus, I see it as a great investment item.

Now that I’ve told you about the HANAair Professional Hair Dryer itself, I have to tell you about what Misikko included with it – as these items literally made me squeal for joy, and made it possible for me to experience Christmas in January. Seriously. Misikko should win an award for their packaging alone. I was treated to a purple, white, and black color scheme (with a cuddly pop of pink), which included a Sleep Mask (very Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany’s); Rosebud-Shaped Potpourri; full-size bottles of Paul Mitchell Shampoo One and The Detangler (P.S. There’s definitely a new man in my hair’s life now); an e.l.f. Mechanical Eyelash Curler; multiple Emery Boards (beyond perfect as I am a nail care nut); two bottles of Mellow Hand Sanitizer; HANA Shine Shield; a HANA Hand Towel; Corioliss’ The Straightening Comb; and, my personal favorite (I totally saved the best for last), a Hot Pink Stuffed Teddy Bear (which I am beyond in love with, as I still have a stuffed animal collection).

Gone Retro: Case-Mate Cinda B Cases Roundabout Black Review

Though I am far from a product of the sixties, I have always considered myself to have just a dash of hippie, flower power pizzazz in my soul (and not just because I was heavily-influenced by The Babysitter’s Club’s Dawn Schafer during my formative years). I will forever swoon at the sight of Twiggy’s spider lashes; think of Edie Sedgwick when I spot leopard print coats; and covet my very own pair of go-go boots. Thus, I couldn’t help but to request the retro-esque Roundabout Black Case, created by Cinda B Cases, when Case-Mate offered me the chance to choose a new case for my iPhone.

I was given three options for this case (Barely There, Tough, or ID / Credit Card). I have mainly had experience with Silicone-based cases; but since I loved the feel and quality of my Case-Mate Glam, I opted for the Roundabout Black in Barely There, and was very happy with the decision, as it is both strong and sturdy, yet very light, so it doesn’t add bulk or extra weight to my already overfull handbag.

What immediately caught my eye in regards to this case was, of course, the print. The colors are black, white, pink, and varying shades of gray (from light concrete to charcoal); and are circular in shape, so that they overlap one another, creating a very psychedelic look that is eye-catching and playful, yet subtle enough to remain sophisticated and elegant. Not to mention that it makes for the perfect counterpart to bubblegum pink or winter white manis!

Take A Peek At My Peacock: Case-Mate Peacock Review

Something that many of you may not know about me is that, aside from being a shoe-adoring fashionista, I am an enormous animal lover. Over the years I have shared my living quarters with rabbits, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, lizards, frogs, rats, and, in the fourth grade, an assortment of snails (insects, I know, but I was their guardian nonetheless). Therefore, when Case-Mate offered me the chance to select a new case for my iPhone 4S, I instantly set my sights on the aptly-titled ‘Creature Cases’ – specifically, the pretty Peacock – to show my devotion to the animal kingdom.

One thing that always worries me about cases that feature raised pieces is that, while gorgeous to look at, they will add too much bulk to the iPhone’s slim design. That was not a problem I encountered with the Case-Mate Peacock. Though the raised silicone pieces add a 3-D effect to the overall design; instead of adding excess bulk, they create a surface that is easier to grip so that you avoid accidental drops (always a plus for those of us who are clumsy).

The colors, while stunning online, are far deeper and rich looking in person, bringing to life the true jewel-tones of a peacock (and adding the most decadent pop of color to monochromatic ensembles). But the true clincher, and one of my favorite attributes of this case, is the matching tail and plumage which dangles from the bottom corner – a charming detail that I find irresistible (and, mark my words, will leave a trail of adoring admirers in your wake).

♥ Form fit that protects your iPhone at all times; while allowing access to all ports and functions when in use. ♥

♥ Raised silicone pieces that work overtime, creating both a gorgeous 3-D effect, and providing an easy-to-hold grip. ♥

FASHIONISTA VERDICT:
Playful in aesthetic; elegant in hue. The Peacock Case is perfect for adding brilliant pops of color to monochromatic looks; and will leave you with the desire to build an entire animal menagerie of iPhone cases (I currently have my eye on Hoot the Owl and Xing the Panda). A word of wisdom for users: Be prepared to fend off compliments galore – from my experience, this Peacock is too pretty for most to resist!

The Eco-Friendly Way to Sparkle: Citizen Eco-Drive Silhouette Crystal Bangle Review

Despite the fact that I never leave the house without my iPhone, a technological tool which ~~I worship~~ features a built-in clock, amongst other handy essentials which keep me connected to the world; there is one other form of technology (this one of the fashion variety) of which I am rarely seen without…a watch. My problem, you see, is finding one that is agreeable in both functionability and fabulousness. I have a child’s size wrist (read très petit); therefore, finding a style that is both chic and charming, AND possesses a comfy fit is oftentimes impossible. Thus, I was thrilled when I was offered the chance to receive the Citizen Eco-Drive Silhouette Crystal Bangle to take for a spin and keep for all time.

My first reaction upon opening the box was the subtle sparkle and effortless glamour of the aesthetic. Though the face is trimmed in minute, shimmering Swarovski Crystals, the watch retains a very classy, subdued look which is perfect for adding the tiniest touch of decadence to an outfit consisting largely of denim. My second reaction was in regards to the face. Though the entire watch is comprised of a stainless steel case, bangle style link bracelet, and silvertone hands, the dial (face) is black – a juxtaposition that ups the elegance factor.

While the looks alone of the watch truly captivated me, I was hesitant that it still wouldn’t fit correctly. I was wrong. While oversized menswear watches look gorgeous, they virtually eat my wrist alive; so was not the case with the Citizen Eco-Drive Silhouette Crystal Bangle. Made with a woman’s delicate frame in mind, the watch is very dainty; and, as such, looks stunning hanging loosely (bangle-esque) around one’s wrist (mine included). I paired mine with dark wash skinny jeans, knee-high tan boots, and an oversized sweater for a holiday get-together over the weekend, and was amazed at how sparkly I felt with that single piece of jewelry – not to mention that I received countless compliments on it.

Looks aside, here is the true clincher which makes this particular style eco-friendly…it runs on light. I’ll be honest, I have never before changed a watch battery; rather, I typically just replace a watch entirely once the battery dies. That will not be a problem with this particular model. Through Eco-Drive Technology, natural and artificial lights are converted into usable energy, which keep the watch charged and running for at least 6 months, before needing another charge. In simpler terms? No battery changing required!

Perhaps I’m the only one, but I truly think that many suffer from the same type of predicament regarding dressing for New Year’s Eve…what to wear. Many feel that anything that sparkles, twinkles, glitters, or shimmers will work wonders. I’m certainly not going against that thought, as I couldn’t agree more. But, there is a time and a place for everything. Each New Year’s Eve situation requires a differently planned and thought out ensemble. For instance, you would not wear a barely there frock displaying décolletage galore to an office party; nor would you wear a stuffy pants suit to a cheerful celebration involving a handful of your closest friends and a cute boy. The key to having the perfect New Year’s Eve is having the ideal New Year’s Eve style for what you will be doing.

In general one is expected to be bold as opposed to blasé while ringing in the New Year. It is assumed that one will take chances and be over the top – they’ll replace understated makeup with overstated, they’ll allow shorter hemlines, and embrace ostentatious baubles. All this is fine, as long as it is within reason of the gala you are gracing with your presence. So, select your New Year’s Eve destination du jour, and get to shopping!

♥Just Dance For the singleton, I can’t help but feel that New Year’s Eve is the optimal time to go out with a gaggle of your girlfriends and meet new friends – particularly of the cute boy variety. After all, you are transitioning from one year to the next, and what better way to accomplish such a feat than with a cute boy in tow? Thus, heed the advice of Lady Gaga, and head off to a trendy club to dance and chit chat over cocktails! Remember, your plans are loose; you are out for a good time; therefore, it is essential to keep your look simple and comfortable yet cosmopolitan and urbane.

Skinny jeans are a close, personal friend of mine year-round, but for a night out with the girls they become your BFF. You want to downplay your look and display classic sophistication…skinny jeans in a dark wash, like AG Adriano Goldschmied’s The Legging Jeans in Delight will help you do this as they are sexy without being too overpowering. Tonight, the focal point is your upper half; thus, pull out the risqué tops! I favor Tibi’s Metallic Racer Back Camisole for its subtle shimmer and Haute Hippie's Scarface Halter Top for its playful yet posh aesthetic. No one is saying that you have to be too flamboyant, but a daring top and some killer shoes, like Edmundo Castillo’s Katy Scallop Pumps, will make you feel seductive, alluring, and absolutely adored. Just don’t forget the essentials! Tuck a tube of gloss, mascara, eyeliner, the shadow required to create a smoky eye, and, my personal favorite, mark’s Celebrate Shimmer Powder Brush (to add a little sparkle to your décolletage) into an eye-catching clutch like Milly's Victoria Metallic Clutch and off you go!

♥The Office Parties are supposed to be fun; a celebration to be enjoyed with close friends, cute boys, and some of your nearest and dearest. But all signs of joviality seem to go out the window when the thought of the office party comes up. Suddenly you are overwhelmed with stress as opposed to good spirits – riddled with worry that you will do something to offend your boss or a fellow co-worker; or, worse than doing something, wearing something that will put you on the outs.

Despite the fact that it harbors the title “party,” the office get-together is one of the few types of events in life that you will attend in which you are expected to maintain some semblance of conservatism in your dress. Your faux leather pants? Lock them up! The skintight dress that hugs your every curve and keeps all eyes in the room fixated on you and only you? Sorry darling, tuck it behind your blazers and dress pants. Tonight you are going to a gala as…the professional. No pouting! Professional and conservative does not mean snooze-worthy; it’s simply indicative of keeping things on a classy level.

First and foremost you must remember to stick to neutral tones – black and white are your comrades for the evening. They will ensure that you look posh, sophisticated, and chic…three things that all bosses adore. To avoid any worries about your hemline, forgo a skirt and instead opt for wide-leg trousers in an ebony hue like Theory’s Max C Pants. If you want to stay completely streamlined, a black sweater like Ami Dans La Rue's Crew Neck Sweater Sweater will do the trick; if, however, you want to break up shades a bit, a top in either an off-white or winter white shade will work wonders at helping you retain regality – especially when coupled with a playful patent pump like Alice + Olivia’s Ronan Patent Platform Pumps. With a look like this you still have the ability to turn heads and come across as sexy; but with a feminine mystique aura hovering around you – which will only make you more enticing. Even better, it’s a slimming style that will boost your confidence by miles.

Given the fact that everything about your look sticks to the basics, it is your responsibility to be bold with your accessories. Think brilliant baubles and costume jewelry galore – statement necklaces with oversized gems, cocktail rings visible from twenty-feet away, dangling bracelets tinkling with whimsical charms, and earrings that swing to and fro from your lobes; in addition to a metallic clutch, of course. To finish things off, don’t be shy with your makeup. Steer clear of body glitter, but a few swipes of mascara and ravishing red lips will cast a seductive, come-hither smolder reminiscent of Old-Hollywood glamour that will keep you polished yet breathtaking.

♥A Family Affair You may think that, due to the fact that no cute boys are a part of the equation, it is fine for you to spend the evening in a pair of flannel pajamas that have been collecting dust in your dresser drawer for the past two years. You’re wrong! You may be ringing in the New Year with your family, people who have seen you at your absolute worst, but that is no reason for you to feel unfabulous. In fact, it is an even greater reason for you to turn on the glamour. So what if the sparkling champagne of grown-up gatherings has been replaced with sparkling cider – they’re both fizzing with the spirit of celebration; therefore your ensemble should too. Your mission tonight is to retain all sense of comfort; whilst holding fast to your cuteness!

Forgo the dress. As we all know, this is a family affair; and, as such, it is fairly casual. While denim would work wonders right now, it’s not as forgiving as flannel in terms of repose; nevertheless, you still want to look stunning for those snapshots that are destined to commence throughout the evening, therefore opt for denim’s cozier cousin…jeggings. A pair like AG Adriano Goldschmied's The Tights Jeans is ideal. The aesthetic is virtually identical to jeans, with the added bonus of stretchiness which will make curling up on the couch in front of a warm fire an absolute cinch. Top it off with something sparkly like a sequin sweater or vest layered over a thermal tee; then slip on a pair of knit socks to keep your tootsies toasty. Complete the look with a pale pink pout, like the one achieved via mark’s Lipclick SPF 15 Color Shine Lipstick in Cupid. Remember, you may be watching the ball drop in Times Square from the comforts of your own homey living room, but that’s no reason to look like something the cat dragged in!

You’re already halfway to the New Year’s Eve of a lifetime darling; now you just have to choose the perfect look for your romantic tryst! Here’s where many lovebirds get it wrong; don’t make your ensemble du jour overly complicated this evening…simplicity is your new best friend!

Tonight a dress should be donned. Something flowy that drapes over your body to create a subtly sexy silhouette with a neckline that leaves everything to the imagination, and a hemline with the ability to make your legs go on for days. Sweetheart necklines, like the one found on Rebecca Taylor’s Eyelash Bustier Dress are your best bet as they provide a corset-like design in a very classic and urbane fashion that is equal parts sophisticated and sassy. They also work wonders in balancing out the petite pleats created via the flow of the frock. As I said, simplicity is key, therefore keep accessories, shoes, and makeup minimal. You’re looking to impress your date here, not an entire audience, and your goal is to do so by being yourself – while looking radiant, of course! Elongate your form by skipping the strappy sandals (it is December, after all!), and opting for black opaque tights paired with understated black pumps. Such a coupling gives the illusion that your legs are supermodel-long because it streamlines your style without breaking you in half.

While I am the biggest advocate of cocktail rings, when keeping things to a minimal it’s best to bag the bling; instead peruse the power of the pendant necklace. A pretty pendant, especially if trimmed in rhinestones or diamonds, adds a twinkle to your throat, and truly makes your eyes sparkle. Pretty, Pretty Polish: Mary Jo Matsumoto Pacific Coast Highway Nail Color Collection Review

I have never met a polish I didn’t love. To show my adoration to luscious lacquers? Well, between you and me, I displaced an entire drawer of denim in order to create a residence specifically for my very large collection of polishes. There’s dark and sophisticated from OPI and Essie; bright and glittery from Forever 21 and China Glaze; and an abundance of unique shades from Illamasqua, mark, and Orly.

Regardless, I never feel as if my collection is complete. Thus, I was thrilled when I learned that Mary Jo Matsumoto, an incredible clothing designer, blog-mistress of Trust Your Style, and an individual I am happy to call my friend, announced that she was releasing a 6-Piece Polish Collection inspired by California’s Pacific Coast Highway. And even more so when I had the chance to select a duo of decadent hues to try for myself – Laguna Shimmer from the Beach View Collection, and Trestles from the Solid Waves Collection.

Above I am wearing Laguna Shimmer, which is a sparkly, glitter-based turquoise. This, I believe, is meant to be a top coat over a darker color (such as Trestles); however, I am obsessed with sparkly polishes, so I decided to make it the main event. This is three coats. From experience, I find that Turquoise can be a tough nail color to pull off; however, this color has a very radiant icy-hue to it that makes it universally flattering. NOTE: The picture does not do this polish justice. In real life, it has this inner glow that is extremely captivating and hard to tear your eyes away from.

Here I am wearing Trestles, which is a navy shimmer. Unlike Laguna Shimmer, Trestles does not have a glitter base; rather, it has a subtle shimmer mixed into the darker shade, which really comes alive in certain light. I personally find darker nail colors perfect year-round as they have this sophisticated look to them; plus, they partner really well with cocktail rings and other forms of jewelry. This color I would say is slightly comparable to OPI’s Russian Navy; however, I find that Trestles has far more sparkle and shimmer to it. This is one coat (I’m serious ONE coat).

Above I am wearing one coat of Laguna Shimmer over one coat of Trestles. This is actually one of my favorite combinations as it reminds me of a midnight sky speckled with stars.

Though I only tried two colors from the six-piece collection, I was very, very impressed with both. My typical nail regimen is to use three coats (for colors, not just glitter-based polishes), and to top that with one coat of Seche Vite to add shine, protect the color, and make the manicure completely smooth. The formula of these did not require that at all.

For Trestles, one coat was thick enough to beautifully cover the entire nail without any type of streakiness or clumping; and it had enough shine on its own to not require a top coat of Seche Vite. Laguna Shimmer, when used as a top coat, only requires one coat to add shimmer; however, if you want to make it a glittery color all its own, three coats will do the trick. As for Laguna Shimmer… you would think that, as a glitter-based polish, a top coat of Seche Vite would be required. It wasn’t. Despite the fact that it looks like glitter, Laguna Shimmer does not have the grainy texture that a lot of glitter-based polishes possess; therefore, it didn’t require a coat of Seche Vite to add smoothness.

POSITIVES:
♥Very little product is required to make a huge impact. ♥
♥High quality formula. I didn’t experience chips of any sort for the multiple days that I wore each color. ♥
♥Excellent tip-wear. No touch-ups were required. ♥
♥Long-lasting color. Despite the fact that I did not use a top coat, I felt that both colors remained just as bright and fresh as they looked the first day the polish was applied – no dulling. ♥

FASHIONISTA VERDICT:
High-quality, eye-catching, and simple to apply; this is, without a doubt, one of my new favorite brands of polish. A little birdie told me that a new collection will be released for Valentine’s Day. Who do you think will be first in line to indulge in the romantic new hues? That would be me!

Never mind the niceties, my loves; they are getting us nowhere fast. Sometimes it is best to be blunt; to speak our minds and unleash our candid sides. And the honest truth when it comes to shopping is that boys are completely clueless.

It is the male mind’s presumption that shopping is a simple hobby, a pleasurable way to spend a Saturday afternoon; and it most certainly can be. But when it comes to the technicalities of shopping a sale, all gratification is cast to the wayside. The uncomplicated truth is that the moment the SALE sign appears in shop windows, stores turn into a brutal battlefield; one that involves lining up in single-file formation outside of Barney’s at the crack of dawn, fighting your way in and out of dressing rooms, and digging through piles upon piles of RED Valentino Drawstring Pants hoping against all hope that a size Medium will suddenly materialize and bring victory to your shopping spree – all behaviors synonymous with that seen by soldiers on the front line.

Darlings, finding success at the sale rack does not start the moment you enter the store; rather, it requires preparation for days prior to the sale to ensure that you know exactly what you’re aiming to score during those few adrenaline-pumping hours. Sure, you may still have to stalk the brunette who snagged the last size six pair of See by Chloe Convertible Cuff High Heel Boots, keeping your fingers crossed that she’ll change her mind about the purchase, and leave the prize within your reach; and there’s no doubt that you will emerge from the wreckage with a few bumps and bruises courtesy of feisty fashionistas on a mission identical to yours. If you abide by these rules, however, you will unquestionably emerge triumphant. Would I lie to you?

♥Shop the Closet The sale may not be starting for another two days, but I insist, you’re going shopping right this very minute…in your own closet, that is.

The problem with sales is that everything is so much more affordable than normal, that we feel compelled to stock up on anything that catches our eye. The difficulty with this is, oftentimes, we already own large quantities of the identical item, we just don’t realize it; hence the reason why going shopping in your closet beforehand, as a means of taking inventory, is essential before you so much as begin putting together your I-desperately-need-to-find-it-today-or-else-my-wardrobe-will-be-forever-incomplete list.

Let’s take a gander, shall we? In your shoe collection lie a full six pairs of black heels; you are the proud owner of three clutches, all showcasing sparkling silver sequins; and it appears that there are no less than four LBD’s peeking out from behind a jumble of dress shirts that could truly do with a good ironing right about now. Please understand I’m not passing judgment here – simply illustrating the facts. Yes, these are classic pieces that every girl should be in possession of – in moderation, of course. Your mission during the next sale is to steer clear of items you already own, and look for new bits that will spruce up your wardrobe, as opposed to collecting dust in a drawer full of duplicates. After all, who needs another pair of black pumps, when you could go wild with a pair of Sam Edelman’s Portney Pumps in Leopard?

♥Life Lessons I spotted it just a few short days ago. Halston Heritage’s Halter Long Dress. Now, I wanted nothing more than to whip out my AmEx and charge what I like to think of as the crème de la crème of evening gowns, but I stopped myself – much to my chagrin, of course. Why? It doesn’t fit into my current situation.

When shopping the sale racks, it is of the utmost importance to evaluate your present lifestyle before buying items that cost an arm and a leg – even when deeply discounted – and may spend the next few years locked away in the back of your closet, never offered the chance to see the light of day.

Cocktail dresses are perfect for a highfalutin socialite who spends at least four nights a week at chic soirees, but for the girl on the go who most frequently finds herself styled in leggings and oversized sweaters, it is best to forgo the displays devoted to eveningwear, no matter how much they call your name, and seek out pieces more applicable to your lifestyle. It is better to splurge on something that will be worn countless times, than to merely buy a form of frippery that thrills you, yet is seen only by your very own reflection in your bedroom mirror.

♥Apropos Apparel It’s no surprise that we all want to look our best when headed out for a day of shopping; after all, we want to be looked upon as serious shoppers, and not mistreated by salespeople a la Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. But I digress; one does not need to be dressed to the nines when seeking success at the sale rack. You simply want to choose a style which makes you look comfortably put together, yet ensures resilience so that you can not only try things on quickly, but contort yourself into tiny spaces in order to snag out-of-reach garments – which, believe me, you will be forced to resort to at some point during your little outing.

Your go-to look, if you hadn’t already guessed, is leggings, slightly slouchy short sleeve tees like KAIN Label’s Alina Tee, flat boots in a fashion like Pour La Victoire's Marne Flat Boots, and cross-body bags such as mark’s Get A Handle On It Bag. Ballerina flats are also an option, but only if you plan on wearing them with socks, or remember to bring a pair of socks with you – you never know when you’ll find a pair of shoes that you desperately want to try on, but are unable to because you left your socks at home!

♥I Spy With My Little Eye You may not have found that decadent Boy. by Band of Outsiders Cropped Double Breasted Blazer in your desired size, but do not give up hope! Elsa Schiaparelli once said “Women dress alike all over the world: they dress to be annoying to other women.” The same way of thinking can be attributed to shopping for clothes.

Let’s be honest here, darlings, females can be catty, especially when it comes to fashion. We will, at times, purposely carry the very last Rebecca Minkoff Chateau Fringe Hobo around a store until we leave, knowing full well that we won’t be buying it, just to make sure someone else cannot scoop it up right before our eyes; we are also guilty of tucking the last size six pair of Hunter Boots Deacon Lace Up Flat Boots amongst the section which caters to sizes eight through ten. We know it's wrong; but sometimes we simply cannot help ourselves from committing such acts of label lust.

With that in mind, however, it is your responsibility to play Sherlock Holmes, and search every possible nook and cranny for your desired item. You may come up empty-handed; but, chances are, you will hit the jackpot, and leave the store with a smug smile plastered on your face!

♥Excess Denied The word budget is synonymous with a slow and painful form of torture for the girl looking to buy herself something fabulous; but it is essential to put one in place before you step even a single toe inside that store, if only just to save you from a major headache in the long run.

Sales are the perfect time to let yourself go a little too wild in terms of spending given all of the half-off signs plastered within a ten-foot radius of your person; but they can also be misleading. Yes, the items are on sale; but indulging in too many of them can easily place you in the poorhouse in five seconds flat! Have an idea of what you’re searching for, and how much you’re willing to spend in mind before the big day, and shop accordingly. Remember my loves, there will be other sales, and other items that will tickle your fancy in the future – don’t get caught up in this one alone!

On their own pieces like this harbor uniqueness; but with a little creativity, and a lot of accessories, you can truly give them a personality that reflects you and only you!

♥Black Is the New Black You can drop yourself forty years in the future, or flashback sixty years to the past, it doesn’t matter what era you currently find yourself in, black will forever be the new black. Day or night, old or young, it is a classic shade that is both smart and sassy, and will take you from the boardroom to cocktail hour with complete ease, sophistication, and timeless elegance; hence the reason why much of your agency-inspired attire should consist of pieces in noir hues.

That is not to say that you should overhaul all the color in your closet; but ebony colored accoutrements are more acceptable in the working world. They contribute a preemptive neutral palette for bold accessories; while providing a slimming effect that highlights your best features. As an added bonus, no wrong can be done when the color black is in use, so you can spend all that time you would have been devoting to worrying your pretty little head over the power of a pink versus blue frock, and direct it towards completing newly acquired assignments ahead of time to impress your boss!
